Volleyball game…Friday night…my house…you in?
OK…so I’ve been wanting to get a good game of volleyball together for quite some time…and so have you(I’m guessin’).
Why don’t you ditch your current plans for Friday night and come and play volleyball with a bunch of other out-o-shape people?
We’ll get started around 6:30pm. Feel free to bring your swimming suits if you want to take a dip in the pool afterwards.
btw…if this volleyball game turns out anything like the game of spoons at our house, we’ll all be taking a trip to the chiropractor.
Drop me a comment or an email if you can make it!
Oh…since I’m on the sports theme…. Are you going to the bowling fundraiser on Sunday that benefits Homefront Christian Outreach?
If you’re not planning on going, why don’t you sponsor me? You can sponsor me per pin, or a flat $ amount…
UPDATE: IF IT RAINS, VOLLEYBALL OFF…BUT SPOONS IS ON!
Praying For God To Move…
Today, I prayed over 10,000 postcards that will be delivered to the post office tomorrow advertising our Tattoo sermon series beginning on 9/7. I prayed for the people that will be receiving these postcards….the confused, the hurting, the searching, the broken, the disconnected, and the hopeless.
I was reminded yesterday that God’s timing is not always my timing.
A few minutes before church started yesterday, I met a retired gentleman that was making his way into the auditorium. I introduced myself and asked him if it was his first time here. He said that it was. He told me that he received a postcard from us some time ago that said “No Perfect People Allowed” and he said that it
stuck with him ever since he received it in the mail. He said that God has been working in his life and he came today to find Jesus! I told him that he came to right place to find him. At the end of the service, he gave his life to Christ!
We mailed that postcard out last November! I remember thinking that mailing that postcard was a waste of money, because no one visited as a result of it…that is until yesterday! Wow…I was wrong about wasting money. If the only purpose of that 10,000 piece mailer was for God to speak to this one man…it was more than worth it!
Seeing life change never gets old! It’s why we exist…
Would you please pray with me and ask God to move in the hearts of those that will receive the postcard this week. Let’s pray with faith, expecting God to answer!

Instant Craving
Our craving for God doesn’t come in an instant, and our craving for God doesn’t go in an instant. Our cravings are developed, and our cravings deteriorate…And both words…developing and deteriorating…indicate a process that happens over time, not in an instant.
Here are some of the things that work toward deteriorating my craving for God.
- Not spending time reading the Bible everyday. I make an effort to read my Bible before checking email, reading blogs, and reading the news. When I don’t, I can easily get out of the habit of starting my day depending upon Him. Our generation has become biblically illiterate. We simply don’t read our bibles. We need to turn off the TV, close the internet browser, and pick up the bible and read it! We need to hear directly from His Word, not from a blog or a book about Him. It’s like having someone tell you about a movie instead of you watching it for yourself.
- Not having focused time in prayer. I’m not talking about shootin’ up a quickie on the way to work. I’m talking about having a time of uninterrupted prayer, where I communicate with God. I’m in awe of who He is and what He has done. I express my love, my thankfulness, my desires, my faults, my needs to Him. We need to adjust our lifestyle to pray, not pray as it fits into our lifestyle!
- Not keeping my list short before God. What I mean by that is confessing & repenting of sin in my life quickly! If I harbor junk in my life for an extended period of time, my craving for God deteriorates. Confess it to God quickly, and allow Him to restore you.
- Not taking risks and exercising my faith. When I take God-sized risks and allow Him to move in my life, my craving for Him grows. When I play it safe, the cravings dull.
- Not being around other God Cravers. Nothing stirs up my craving for God like being around someone that has a passion to follow Christ. It stirs my heart. It fires me up.
What are the things that you have identified that deteriorate your craving for God?
