church planter, mistake maker, & life learner…

Joy & Pain

The church is an active body that is always changing. Sometimes the body is hurting… sometimes the body is rejoicing….most of the time the body is doing both at the same time.

As a baby is being born, a grandmother is passing away. As a person is recovering from a procedure that will bring healing, another is sick and doesn’t really know why. As a student is graduating from high school a father just lost his job. It’s joy and it’s pain. I love it when the church cares for the body like it’s supposed to do. How are we supposed to care for one another?…

If one member suffersall suffer togetherif one member is honoredall rejoice together. 1 Corinthians 12:26

Let’s remember to do both well. Let’s celebrate the joyful times together and let’s care for one another when we’re hurting. It could be a card, a phone call, a meal, or helping with a household chore. Be creative with your caring…it goes a long way.

We have set up an account with www.carecalendar.org. You can log on with an id and code and fill a need for two families right now. If you can help with a meal, leave a comment here or email Naomi. She will provide the id and code for you to access the calendar so you can fill a need.

What will your footnote be when you die?

Famous “edgy” comedian, George Carlin died yesterday. I read this article about his life and it really caused me to think about the mark that I will leave behind when I die.

Carlin is most famous for his routine, “Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television”, that lead to a Supreme Court ruling on obscenity in 1972. Earlier this year Carlin told the associated press, “So my name is a footnote in American legal history, which I’m perversely kind of proud of.”

What will your one footnote be and where will your footnote be left when you’re gone?

You have the ability to write your own footnote. And your footnote can impact a whole lot more than American legal history. Your footnote can impact eternity! Our time is short, let’s invest it wisely in the things that effect eternity!

Why leave your mark on American History, when you can leave it on Eternity!

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  Matthew 6:19-20

The Son was shining yesterday!

Yesterday was an incredible day! 11 people went public with their faith through baptism. It was supposed to be a rainy, stormy day but God had other plans. He provided an absolutely gorgeous day! The sun and the Son was shining all day! Jesus was lifted high. It was a great day of fun and celebration!

Stay tuned for the video…it will be posted soon.
