church planter, mistake maker, & life learner…

Perspective

Perspective is our compass. Lose perspective…you lose your bearings. Lose your bearings…you lose your direction. Lose your direction…you lose your vision. Lose your vision…you lose your life!

Let me help you put things back into perspective…

I have a question for you….What would you do if you just got the news that you were diagnosed with a terminal disease and you only had 1 week to live? Would you live any different? What things would you do differently? What conversations would you have? What relationships would you patch up? Would you hold your kids and never let go? Would you plead with your friend to trust Christ so you can be reunited with them some day? Would you tell your spouse how much you love her? How would you think differently? Would you focus on the things that really matter? Would you get angry as quickly as you normally do? Would you ask God to give you courage for what you’re about to face? Would your house really mean all that much to you? Your car? Your job?

This changes a lot doesn’t it? Why wait until the end of your life to live your life to the fullest? Think about this. We have the incredible opportunity to create and dream BIG and live it out. Why in the world would we do anything but that? Start living…dream BIG.

Upcoming Sermon Series

Shattered is a three week sermon series I’ve been working hard on. We will kick it off on June 15th(our first Sunday at Penn’s Grove School). I’m pumped up about it because I know it’s where a lot of us are at as a church right now. God has been rocking my world lately through his Word and reminding me of his redemptive work in everything…mostly the messy stuff.

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Here are the titles of the 3 week series…

Week one: Finding the beauty in betrayal

Week two: Finding the beauty in regret

Week three: Finding the beauty in the hopelessness

Quick Hits on a Tuesday That Feels Like a Monday

  • Had a great time yesterday hangin’ with some friends.
  • I was surprised that people actually got in the pool because it was cold! Not me…I’m a wuss. Come talk to me when it’s 85 degrees.
  • Our attendance on Sunday was about 1/2 of what it usually is because of the holiday.
  • I hope it was because of the holiday and not because I scared em’ away with the whole car part thing?
  • We got our Crown Financial small group tonight! I’m really diggin’ it. It’s so much more than finances. People are really opening up and sharing some tough life stuff and finding healing!
  • We’re doing a 2 week series called – “Why do we do it?” We’re going to dig into the significance of baptism and communion.
  • Speaking of baptism…I’m excited about our baptism celebration happening on June 22nd. We’re gonna celebrate the people going public with their faith!
  • These verses hit me hard today. I wonder what God is testing me with. It’s time to kick it up a notch on trusting God for the BIG stuff. I’m going for it! Watch out Elk Creek…it’s about to get dangerous!
  • I’m pumped about moving to the Penn’s Grove School in three weeks. Spread the word!
  • Lots of people signed up to serve at our 3rd gas buy down for June 14th.
